About Kindled Life Doula Services

Kindled Life Doula Services and owner, Irene Kim, exists so that every woman, baby, and family is seen, heard, cared for, and valued in this very intimate, sweet, special, yet sometimes uncertain time of welcoming a precious newborn into the family.

 

After having her own amazing birth experiences, Irene heard of other friends’ experiences, some even traumatic, and felt a calling to be a partner and advocate for women during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Irene became Bradley Method® certified in 2015, and has since then taught classes and/or acted as a doula to over 400 women and their partners.​ Irene is also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and a DONA Certified Doula CD(DONA).

Irene is described by clients as calming, professional, and experienced - embodying a gentle spirit that makes them feel confident and reassured. She is a knowledgeable advocate who is caring and understanding, and one who lays out all the options for birth, sharing other pregnant women's experiences, and letting them decide what they feel is best for them.​

 

The name Kindled Life was inspired by Irene’s daughter, Kindle, who has followed in her mother’s footsteps and grown a love for the birthing process. Kindle attended her first birth with Irene at 9 years old, and continues to pursue knowledge and experience alongside her mom watching birth videos and even standing in as an assistant for some of Irene’s classes. ​The word "kindle" also means “to set a fire,” “to arouse,” or “to inspire,” and here signifies every individual’s journey of birth sparking new life and igniting transformation. In becoming a mother, you also witness both the gentle flame of love that warmly embraces a child as well as the fierce blaze of strength that boldly protects this new life and endures all that comes with it. Birth changes you. Babies change you. And just as she herself experienced a kindling of new life after birthing each of her children, Irene inspires every mother she meets to do the same.   ​
