About Kindled Life Doula Services

​Kindled Life Doula Services and owner, Irene Kim, exists so that

every woman, baby, and family is seen, heard, cared for, and

valued in this very intimate, sweet, special, yet sometimes

uncertain time of welcoming a precious newborn into the family.​ 

With over 10 years of experience supporting 500+ expecting

parents, Irene combines her depth of knowledge and experience

with her deep passion for supporting birthing women and their

families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Irene is a Bradley Method® certified teacher, a DONA Certified Birth Doula CD(DONA), a trained and experienced postpartum doula, a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) who is certified to provide mental health therapy for the state of Maryland.

Fun Fact! The name Kindled Life was inspired by Irene’s daughter, Kindle, who has followed in her mother’s footsteps and grown a love for the birthing process. Kindle attended her first birth with Irene at 9 years old, and continues to pursue knowledge and experience alongside her mom watching birth videos and even standing in as an assistant for some of Irene’s classes. ​The word "kindle" also means “to set a fire” or “to inspire,” and here signifies every individual’s journey of birth, igniting transformation into a bold new life. Birth changes you. And just as she herself experienced a kindling of new life after birthing her children, Irene inspires every mother she meets to do the same.   ​
